About Crossed Pines Ridgebacks
Crossed Pines Ridgebacks, owned by Tom and Loretta Martin, is a responsible breeder of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We are based in the mountains above Santa Fe, New Mexico. However, we are planning a move to Arkansas in the fall of 2026.
We breed and show quality Rhodesian Ridgebacks with a focus on temperament, correct conformation, and structural soundness. We are members of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS) and follow the organization's recommended health testing protocols and ethical breeding standards.
We are always happy to answer questions and share our love of this remarkable breed. Thank you for visiting our website!
Our History
Rhodesian Ridgebacks have been part of our lives since 1993. It began with Brandy, then Taysia, and later my beloved Lila.
Lila was our first show-quality bitch and truly changed our lives. She was sunshine on four legs and joined our family at a time when we desperately needed her, following the heartbreaking loss of our precious Taysia to cancer. When I began researching breeders to find Lila, my primary concerns were temperament and longevity. I wanted a sweet, stable companion who would be part of our family for many years. Sadly, we lost Lila to cancer just short of her 13th birthday, but her impact on our lives remains immeasurable.
Over the years, we have enjoyed participating in many activities with our Ridgebacks. We compete in conformation and have a particular passion for Lure Coursing. We have also earned Rally titles and competed in Obedience. We truly appreciate and celebrate the versatile, all-around Rhodesian Ridgeback.
After Lila, we acquired a puppy from renowned breeder D. Jay Hyman of Rolling Ridgebacks. Reddington quickly became my husband Tom's constant companion and pride and joy. Many clients know him as the friendly greeter at Tom's financial planning office, Crossed Pines Wealth Management, in Santa Fe.
Through Jay Hyman's mentorship and friendship, we welcomed sweet Madison into our family in November 2016. Madison was 18 months old when she arrived, and it didn't take long for her to earn both her Championship and Grand Championship titles. She whelped her first litter in February 2018, marking the beginning of our journey as breeders.
Today, much of our focus in the conformation ring is on the offspring and descendants of Reddington and Madison. As the years pass, we are proud to watch our bloodlines grow and to see the qualities we value carried forward into future generations of Crossed Pines Ridgebacks.
We remain committed to preserving the breed through responsible breeding practices, careful health testing, sound structure, and the wonderful temperament that makes Rhodesian Ridgebacks such exceptional companions.
