Crossed Pines Ridgebacks owned by Tom and Loretta Martin, is a responsible breeder of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We are based in the mountains above Santa Fe, NM. We produce and show, quality Rhodesian Ridgebacks with a focus on temperament, conformation, and structural soundness. We are members of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS). We're happy to answer any questions you may have about Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Thanks for visiting!
We have had Rhodesian Ridgebacks in our lives since 1993. First Brandy, then Taysia and now Lila. Lila is our first show quality bitch and a life changer. She is sunshine on 4 legs and came into our family when we desperately needed her after the loss of our precious Taysia to cancer. When I researched breeders to find Lila, my primary concerns were temperament and life span. Yes, I wanted a truly sweet dog that would be in our family for a very long time. Lila's grandmother Leilani passed away at age 14, having won acclaims at the National RRCUS Specialty in Salt Lake City, UT only 6 weeks earlier. (September 2014).
We show in conformation, but our true love is Lure Coursing. You can often find us out in the fields with Lila, and the rest of our pack, having a grand romp after the "bunny". Lila has become a superstar courser and loves the chase. We have also pursued Rally titles and competed in Obedience. We truly love the all-around Rhodesian Ridgeback.
In the fall of 2014, we bred Lila and kept one of her puppies, Lacy. We also acquired a puppy from renowned breeder D. Jay Hyman of Rollings Ridgebacks. Reddington is my husband Tom's constant companion and pride. He is often the door greeter at Tom’s financial planner office in Santa Fe.
Tom became a first-time conformation ring handler in the Spring of 2015. He has embraced the show ring with Reddington and on October 25, 2015 they achieved the Championship. CH Rollings Reddington Master and Commander was 13 months. And... They accomplished the Grand Championship (GCH) in August 2016 when Reddington was 22 months old. We're so proud.
Thanks to Reddington's breeder Jay Hyman we added sweet Madison to our pack in November 2016. She was 18 months at the time and it took us no time to get her championship and grand championship. She had her first litter in February 2018. They are all beautiful and 2 are in wonderful show homes.
We finished Lacy (CH Chantilly Lace and a Pretty Face at Crossed Pines) and Kimber (CH Crossed Pines Diamond Kimber Surprise) in 2018 and have 5 champions in the house.
We now focus our conformation show efforts on puppies Summer and Bronn. Summer is from breeder Jane Gentzen in Arizona and Bronn is our pick from Madison and Reddington's second litter born February 14, 2019.
Kimber's sister Ripley, who lives in spoiled splendor with former president of RRCUS, Ross Jones finished her Championship in 2019. Jackie O, who is from Madison and Reddingtons's first litter, born February 19, 2018, is owned by Tom and Sharon Oler and finished in 2019. She is now working on her Grand Championship.
We travel most weekends to either conformation or lure coursing competitions. We have a big fifth wheel to fit as many of our pack as possible and still be able to move. Loretta often ring stewards at the conformation shows and we recently joined the Local LGRA club to get more involved in dog activities. We also are members of the Rio Grande Kennel Club.
